Jennifer Balboni Appointed as New Board Director for Soquel Creek Water District
Soquel, CA (August 16, 2023) —The Soquel Creek Water District (District) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Balboni as the newest member of its Board of Directors. This appointment fills the vacant seat of longstanding Board Member Dr. Bruce Daniels, who resigned earlier this year. She was sworn in Tuesday night, August 15, at the regular Board Meeting. With a community engagement and environmental advocacy background, Balboni brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her new role.
A longtime resident of Aptos, Jennifer Balboni has been an active and engaged member of the local community for over three decades. With a bachelor's degree in mass communications from San Francisco State University, Balboni's professional journey has spanned various fields, including owning a successful local business for a decade. Her deep-rooted connection to the region and her strong sense of stewardship of its natural resources have been evident throughout her career.
Balboni's commitment to environmental conservation is showcased through her designation as a California Certified Naturalist, a testament to her profound understanding of the delicate balance between human activity and ecological health. Her passion and interest in water-related issues led her to participate and graduate from the District’s inaugural class of the Water Wise Academy in 2018 —which brings together District customers to gain a deeper understanding of the District and its mission.
Since 2019, Balboni has served as a public member on the District's Water Resources Management & Infrastructure Committee. Her involvement on the committee underscores her commitment to responsible water management and sustainable practices.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Jennifer Balboni's diverse interests highlight her well-rounded character. An avid traveler and athlete, she is an accomplished mountain and road bike rider. Her participation in the women's Santa Cruz Outrigger team exemplifies her team spirit and dedication to physical activity. Balboni's love for the outdoors extends to leading hikes around the county, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural world with others.

Balboni was appointed by the Board of Directors after an open application and interview process was conducted this summer. The current term for her seat is up in December 2024.
