What is the Urban Water Management Plan?
The Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) is a report that is required by the California Urban Water Management Planning Act (California Water Code, Division 6, Part 2.6). All water providers that have over 3,000 service connections or annually supply 3,000 acre-feet of water or more must complete a new UWMP every five years. The Soquel Creek Water District's 2020 UWMP (PDF) was approved by the Board of Directors on June 15, 2021.
The 2020 UWMP is a long-range planning document that assesses current water demand, projects future demand over a minimum 20-year planning horizon, and identifies a mix of water resources and conservation efforts to meet future demand. The 2020 UWMP also includes the District’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP), which identifies water shortage stages and associated curtailment actions to allow for efficient management of any water shortage with predictability and accountability.
